Rev. Larry Wayne Dees (10-15-2009)
Rev. Larry Wayne Dees, age 58, of Big Point, passed away October 12, 2009 at his home. Rev. Dees was born September 28, 1951 in Booneville, MS.
Larry devoted over 40 years to the ministry serving churches across the south. He was currently a member of West Mobile Baptist Church. Larry also proudly served as the “Voice of the Hornets” for East Central's football and baseball teams. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, reading, and studying God's word. While attending Louisiana Tech University, he was licensed and ordained by Temple Baptist Church.
Bro. Larry was preceded by his father Wallis Wayne Dees.
He is survived by the love of his life, Deanna Kay Darland Dees, his daughters; Amy Michelle (Curt) Walker of Magnolia, AR, and Ashley Melissa (Bryan) Kibby of Moss Point, his son; Anthony “Tony” Micheal (Angie) Dees of Moss Point, his mother; Doris Nell Dees of Sandusky, OH, his brothers; Paul Dees, Bill Dees, and Ted Dees all of Sandusky, OH, and his sister; Ann Dees also of Sandusky, OH. He also leaves behind his grandchildren; Garrett, Christian, and Kayla Walker of Magnolia, AR, and Aaron, Ethan, Bryce, and Addyson Kibby, and Aaron and Taylor Dees, and William Johnson and Amanda Fairley all of Moss Point, and his great joy, his great granddaughter Jordyn “Sprout” Hyman of Moss Point.
Visitation for Mr. Dees will be Thursday, October 15, 2009 from 6 until 9 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Moss Point, and from 9 until 10 a.m. on Friday, October 16 at West Mobile Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be Friday, October 16, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at West Mobile Baptist Church in Mobile, AL, with Rev. Charles Gibbs officiating.
Interment will follow in Serene Memorial Gardens in Escatawpa, with Paul Dees, Bill Dees, Ted Dees, Anthony Dees, Bryan Kibby, Curt Walker, David Darland, and Rich Waddsworth serving as pall bearers. Honorary pall bearers will be Mr. Dees grandsons.
The family ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Guatemalan Mission Fund, care of West Mobile Baptist Church.
