Funeral services for J. C. Hicks, 80, of Ruston, LA will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston, LA. Rev Douglas Hicks will officiate the service with interment to follow in Antioch Cemetery near Simsboro, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Mr. Hicks lived in Simsboro before moving to Ruston. He was a retired forester with the State of Louisiana and enjoyed working in his yard and fishing. Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Bowers Hicks; sister, Ester Hood; brothers, Howard Hicks and Arvie Hicks. He is survived by his children: Jack Hicks and wife Judy of Haughton, LA; Shirley Stephens and husband Mike of Ruston, LA; Sybil Van Wert of LaPlace, LA; Jill Craig and husband Steve of Haynesville, LA; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; sisters: Nellie Dumas of Dubach, LA; Maudie Audirsch and husband Chester of Choudrant, LA; brothers: Robert Hicks of Greenwood, LA; Johnny Hicks of Palestine, TX; Douglas Hicks and wife Dianne of Kingsville, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to especially thank The Arbor Staff, Best Home Health, and Dr. Bobby Ensminger for the care and thoughtfulness you provided. Pallbearers will be Jacky Hicks, Steve Van Wert, Kenny Heflin, Harold Evans, Chip McDonald, Les Thomas, Jeff Patton, and Dustin Hicks.
