Mr. George Randolph Dickson, Jr (09-21-2009)
Funeral services for Mr. George Randolph Dickson, Jr., age 88, will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at 10:00 in New Sarepta Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Richardson and Bro. Larry Joyner officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Baptist Cemetery, Coushatta, LA under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill, LA and with Bro. George Rogers officiating and a presentation by the U. S. Army Honor Guard, Fort Polk. Visitation will be Monday, September 21, 2009 from 5:00 p. m. until 8:00 p. m. at Bailey Mortuary in Springhill, LA.
Mr. Dickson was born December 4, 1920 in Fairview Alpha, LA and passed away Friday, September 18, 2009 in Sarepta, LA. He was a resident of Sarepta, a member of Zion Baptist Church, Coushatta, and was retired from International Paper Company, Container Division, having been there from 1949-1986.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Maurine Robison Dickson; Daughter, Jeanne Dickson Patterson & husband, Charles of Ruston, LA; Sons, Glenn Randolph Dickson & wife, Glenda of Shreveport, LA; David Wayne Dickson & wife, Deborah of Haughton, LA; Grandchildren, Amy Dickson Poston, Kristina Dickson Hatfield & husband, Heath; Jeramy Wayne Dickson & wife, Michelle; Brandon Robert Dickson & wife, Randi; Jamie Dickson Coker & husband, Travis; & Chanley Ellen Patterson; Great Grandchildren: Hannah, Cole, Gracie, Chance, Casen; Sisters, Eliza Dickson Walker, & Doris Dickson Wiggens, both of Shreveport, LA and a host of nieces & nephews.
Mr. Dickson was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Maurine Dickson.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Blewer, Andy Dickson, Brandon Dickson, Jeramy Dickson, Kirk Dickson, & Jeff Holley. Honorary Pallbearer will be Wiley Holley.
Mr. Dickson was a proud veteran of WWII, serving in the European theatre with the 250th Field Artillery of the United States Army. His battalion was involved in the D-Day invasion and was the first to cross the Rhine River into Germany. Mr. Dickson was a recipient of the Bronze Star and the French Croix de Guerre. He was one of the last surviving Veterans that served under General George S. Patton. He was a very loving father and grandfather and his kind heart and sense of humor will be missed by all.
