Mr. John D. Goolsby (09-01-2009)
Funeral services for Mr. John D. Goolsby, age 80 of Ruston, will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Rock Corner Baptist Church near Dubach with Rev. Barry Joiner officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Corner Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston. Mr. Goolsby was born November 29, 1924 to Romie and Lizzie Goolsby. He died August 30, 2009 in Ruston.

In his professional life, he was the owner of Goolsby’s Grocery Store before becoming the purchasing agent for the City of Ruston. Mr. Goolsby loved his work and enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger years. He was a member of Rock Corner Baptist Church. Mr. Goolsby is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Johnnie Ginn Goolsby and his daughter Teresa Goolsby of Monroe. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Zeberdee Ginn, Everette Ginn, Bevon Martin, Donald Norman, Ricky Caldwell and Joe Brown. Visitation will be held at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home Tuesday, September 1, 2009 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
