Victor Averitte (08-31-2009)

Services for Victor Averitte of Downsville, LA will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, 2009 at Downsville Baptist Church in Downsville, LA. Bro. Mike Devillier and Bro. Charles Davis will officiate. Interment will follow in the Downsville Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Visitation will be held at the church Monday from noon until the service.
Mr. Averitte passed from this life on Friday, Aug. 28 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 10, 1916 and was 92 years old. He was preceded in death by his wife Louise Roberts Averitte, his parents Vester and Velma Averitte and his siblings Verma, Herman and Lillian.
Mr. Averitte is survived by three daughters, Margerite A. Hammons and husband Jerry of Baton Rouge, Betty A. Leachman (husband George deceased) of Ruston, Connie A. Sullivan- Guillot and husband Harvey of West Monroe; grandchildren Melinda Hammons Robert and husband Barry and son Victor and daughter Sarah of Prairieville; David Hammons of Galveston, Texas; Sharon Hammons Marchand and husband Rodney and son Adam of Germantown, TN; Lisa Leachman Hinman and son Phillip and daughter Melissa and granddaughter Aliya of Ruston and CA; Van Leachman and wife Shelly and son Layton of Sachse, Texas; Stacy Sullivan of Phoenix, AZ; Sonya Sullivan Wilder and son Jacob and daughter Victoria of West Monroe.
Pallbearers will be Mr. Averitte’s grandson David Hammons, Van Leachman and Stacy Sullivan and great grandsons Adam Marchand, Victor Robert and Jacob Wilder. Memorials may be made to the Downsville Baptist Church, Bathroom Addition Fund, Downsville, LA, 71234. Thank you to Glenwood Regional Medical Center employees and staff for their care and compassion during the last month. A special note of thanks to Dr. Ron Hammett and Dr. Virginia Gonzales as well as the Glenwood physicians for their guidance, compassion and understanding.
