Mr. Henry E. (Monk) Atkins (08-27-2009)
Funeral service for Mr. Henry E. (Monk) Atkins, age 82, of Ruston will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, August 28, 2009 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston. Officiating the service will be Dr. Michael Hawley and Dr. Wayne Evans. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. 

Mr. Atkins was born March 1, 1927 and passed away August 26, 2009. Mr. Atkins was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of WWII. He was also a member of the Ruston Masonic Lodge F&AM, and was a building contractor for fifty years.

He is survived by his wife: Wanda G. Atkins of Ruston; son: Felix J. Atkins and wife Brenda of Ruston; granddaughter: Mary Beth Atkins; grandsons: Joseph Cordaro and wife Jill, Christopher Cordaro II and wife Jesselynn and Nicholas Cordaro; brother: Harold W. Atkins and wife Norma of Ruston; sister: Toni Colvin of Shreveport and several nieces and nephews.  

Pallbearers will be Rex Johnson, Frank Johnson, Butch Garner, Joseph Cordaro, Christopher Cordaro II, and Jerry Garner, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Johnny Maxwell, Bill Rogers, Thurmon Holstead, Troy Smalling, Clarence Faulk, Nolan Coleman, Joe Reeves and J.N. Walpole. 

'Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Memorial may be sent to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home, the Gideon’s International or the charity of your choice.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.kilpatrickfuneralhomes.com
