Helen Louise Jackson McDuffee (08-12-2009)
Helen Louise Jackson McDuffee went to be with the Lord on August 4, 2009. Helen is survived by her sister, Erma Jackson Faulkner Hudson; nephews: Gary Faulkner and wife, Staci; Mark Faulkner; niece; Lori Wyatt and husband, Chris; as well as other nieces, nephews, and many cousins. Her husband of 36 years Luke Ernest McDuffee; her mother, Ruth Loux Jackson and father, Thomas Edward Jackson, predeceased Helen.
Helen was born on March 3, 1930 in rural Cabot, AR where she grew up. She attended Bayou Meto grade school and later graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1948. During those years she was an avid basketball player and a starter for teams at both schools.
Helen moved to Houston, TX in 1954, where she was employed by the telephone company as a customer service representative. She was later transferred to Little Rock, AR where she lived until her retirement after 28 years of service. Helen married Luke in 1969, and upon their retirement moved to a beautiful farm on “McDuffee Mountain” in Cave City, AR. Together Helen and Luke served a number of churches in the area and were well known, and much loved, within the community.
Helen moved to Ruston, LA in January of 2007 following Luke’s death. There she joined Temple Baptist Church and immediately found a place of service and endeared herself to all she met. Helen will be remembered for her years of service in the music ministry of the many churches she attended, her great sense of humor, warm loving demeanor and her beautiful hats.
Funeral services and burial were held on August 7, 2009 in Cabot, AR. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Temple Baptist Church in Ruston. Dr. Rick Byargeon and Rev. Dale Oden will be officiating under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.
