Mr. J.D. Bennett (08-12-2009)
Mr. J.D. Bennett, 89, entered into rest on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at the Northeast Louisiana War Veteran's Home in Monroe, LA. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ima Jean Bennett, three children; Bonnie Lewis and husband Little Roy of Lincolnton, Georgia, David Bennett and wife Gina of Spearsville, and Randy Bennett of Spearsville; brothers, Billy Bennett and wife Francis of Spearsville, and Frankie Bennett and wife Erma of Spearsville, and sister; Floy Wade of Farmerville, seven Grandchildren; Kristen Francis and husband Bryan of Lincolnton, Ga, Brooke Ownby and husband Jon of Bernice, Lizzy Long of Nashville, TN, Amber Upshaw and husband Clint of Bernice, Kaela Bennett of Spearsville, Meagan Bennett of Spearsville and Rob Alexander of Spearsville and six great grandchildren; Layla Ownby, Lane Upshaw, Bennett Boswell, Banks Boswell, Sarah Beth Francis, and Russ Alexander.

Mr. Bennett served as a deacon at Antioch Church of Christ for many years. He served our country in the Armed Forces during World War II. Mr. Bennett worked for Monsanto Chemical Company for many years and was a retired poultry and cattle farmer. He also served on the Union Parish Police Jury for 12 years and the D ‘Arbonne Water Board since it's inception.

Pallbearers are Paul Bennett, Greg Taylor, Thomas Wade, Eddie Lee, Rodney Smith, and Ted Nichols. Honorary pallbearers will the Members of the D ‘Arbonne Water Board. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2009 from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at the church.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Antioch Church of Christ in Spearsville, LA. Tommy Bennett and Paul Dunn will officiate. Burial will follow in church cemetery under direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville, LA. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.kilpatrickfuneralhomes.com.
