Madge English Stack (07-31-2009)
Madge English Stack of Jackson, MS. passed away in Ruston, LA. on Wednesday July 29, 2009. Services will be held Saturday August 1 at 2:30 p.m. at Rocky Springs Baptist Church at Lisbon, LA.

She was born Frances Margaret English August 27,1918 in Lisbon LA to Stephen Madison English and Jewel Clements English. After graduating from Lisbon High School and Louisiana College, she taught French and English at Haynesville High School in Haynesville, LA. In 1940, she married John E. “Jack” Stack Jr. of Harlingen, TX.

They were married in Lisbon, LA. and resided in North Louisiana. After Mr. Stack returned from serving in World War II, they moved to Meridian, MS where they resided until Mr. Stack’s death in 2004. Later that year, she moved to Jackson, MS. Over the years in Meridian, she and her husband were very active members of Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church in Meridian and also made many charitable donations to a large number of churches of all denominations as well as to many other civic and youth organizations .She had many hobbies and was especially interested in nutrition and national political affairs.

She is survived by her sons, John E. Stack III of Dubach, LA. and Charles S. Stack of Jackson, MS; a daughter, Diane Stack Ross of Tuscaloosa, AL; eleven grandchildren, Shari Stack Hunt, Sara Stack Bradley, John E. Stack IV, Robert Hunter Stack, Stephen Stack, Ashley Stack, Cameron Stack, Elizabeth Ross Crump, Steve Ross, Deanna Ross, and John Stack Ross; eight great grandchildren, John Owen Bradley, Grace Bradley, Harper Ross, Maggie Stack, Anna Stack, Houston Crump, Tiffany Crump, and Rose Hemming. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack Stack, brothers Gene English, Max English, and Fred English, sisters Nedra English McDonald and Donna Nell English Walker.

Visitation will be from 7 - 8:30 p.m., Friday, July 31, 2009 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer, LA. Memorials may be made to Rocky Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, P.0. Box 254, Lisbon, LA 71048. Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Homer Chapel, 927-6110.
