Gone but not forgotten.

Dr. Arlena Caldwell Stringer was born on January 25, 1941, and died July 30, 2020.

A graveside memorial service was held on Saturday, August 8, 2020, at Ebenezer Cemetery. Final arrangements were entrusted to King’s Funeral Home of Ruston.

Dr. Stringer received her undergraduate, Masters and PhD from Grambling State University. She worked as a professor and adjunct faculty member at the following colleges and universities: Grambling State University, Louisiana Tech University, the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Wiley College and Delta Community College.

After retiring, she loved spending time with her close friends and family.

Dr. Stringer’s surviving family members are her grandchildren, Russell Kevin Houston II and Raina Karriane Houston, her daughter-in-law Janice Houston-Holmes, her cousin and caretaker Elois A. Crumpton, her sister-in-law Henri Belle Caldwell and her nephew Adrian Jahmal Caldwell.

She was preceded in death by her only son, Russell Kevin Houston I, her husband Willie K. Stringer, her father Willie (Buddy) Caldwell, and her brother Dr. Joe Louis Caldwell. A special thanks to her devoted friends: Bobbie Jean Richards(cousin), Mrs. Betty Anders, Mrs. Glenda Howard, and Mrs.F reddie Washington. Also, special thanks to Dr. Blackwelder, Dr. Osafo, and the staff at Green Clinic.
