Students engage with Tamar Goulet regarding STEM

As part of its ongoing “Girls in STEM” initiative, the SCILS Region 8 LaSTEM Center invited area middle and high school female students to participate in the special seminar program featuring Tamar Goulet, a strong advocate for women in STEM, having been selected as one of 120 ambassadors for the American Association of the Advancement of Science (AAAS) IF/ THEN Initiative. Goulet was on the Louisiana Tech University campus courtesy of a proposal submitted by Dr. Jamie Newman and funded by the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science. Ruston High School students (from left) Courtney Wilson, Melissa Le, Camille Smith, Abby Seney and Tegan LeBlanc gathered with Goulet following the film screening and discussion.
