Parish adds two COVID-19 deaths

Lincoln Parish has topped the 600 mark in confirmed cases of COVID-19. The respiratory ailment caused by the novel coronavirus has also claimed the lives of two more parish residents.

Figures released at noon Friday by the Louisiana Department of Health show the parish with 608 cases of COVID-19 and 22 deaths. That’s 37 more cases than reported the previous day, and two more deaths.

However, the total case count doesn’t mean all of the cases are active. The total is cumulative to when statistics first began being kept in March, and includes an undetermined number of patients who’ve recovered, as well as the 22 who have died.

Meantime, local hospitalizations due to COVID-19 have gone down, Elizabeth Turnley, marketing director for Northern Louisiana Medical Center, said.

“We’ve kind of remained at a steady 10 or less,” Turnley said.
