Santa’s elves have been working overtime to construct a special red mailbox at the Ruston Daily Leader into which area youngsters can drop their letters bound for the North Pole.

Letters can be dropped off beginning Monday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. weekdays. After hours, wish lists should be inserted through the mail slot on the Leader’s front door.

“Fortunately, the Leader has maintained a strong relationship over the years with Santa and his helpers,” Leader Publisher Jerry Pye said. “We’re excited to have been chosen as one of the special mailbox locations. We understand Santa is expecting an overflow of letters this year, so we encourage local children to get their letters in early.”

According to the United States postal service, hundreds of thousands of children nationwide mail letters to Santa each year in hopes of good deliveries on Christmas morning. So, with a special mailbox right here at the newspaper, getting those wish lists off to Santa will be easier than ever.

Start making wish lists now and make sure Santa gets the news in time.
