NLMC opens COVID booster clinic Fri

Area residents who received the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine will be able to get their booster shots at Northern Louisiana Medical Center beginning Friday.

The hospital’s COVID-19 booster clinic will be open from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. each Friday in October. The clinic is located in Suite 105 of the NLMC Medical Building.

The booster can be administered only to individuals who received both doses of the Pfizer vaccine, who are age 18 or older, and for whom it’s been at least six months since they received their second dose of the vaccine.

Boosters cannot be given to anyone who has had monoclonal antibody therapy in the past 90 days, NLMC spokesperson Tami Davis said.

She said those wanting a booster need to bring their vaccine card to their appointment so the card can be updated with the booster information.

Appointments should be scheduled online at hipaa.jotform.com/212707232834149.

Meanwhile, the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Lincoln Parish continues to climb, though the pace has slowed over the past week. As of noon Monday, the Louisiana Department of Health reported 4,538 confirmed cases of the respiratory illness since the pandemic began over a year ago. That number is up by 15 cases from Friday’s total.

COVID-19 has killed 99 Lincoln Parish residents and is thought to have contributed to the deaths of at least 15 more residents, according to LDH.
