Louisiana cases climb to 1,338

The number of people in Louisiana who have died after contracting the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, more than doubled since Sunday, from 20 to 46 Tuesday.

Twelve additional deaths were reported by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals in its daily update on Tuesday. There were 14 deaths added to the total on Monday.

Louisiana saw an increase in the number of coronavirus cases overnight from 1,172 to 1,388, a jump of 216, according to the Tuesday noon report from LDHH.

That number of additional cases on Tuesday was down from the 335 additional cases listed in Monday’s update.

As of noon Tuesday, there were 271 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Louisiana and of those, 94 patients were being ventilated.
