Shown is a Google Streetwise view of the area around the Peachland Mobile Home Park on U.S. Highway 80, where a Saturday night shooting left one dead and another injured.

One person is dead and another injured as a result of a Saturday night shooting that apparently took place over a $5 parking fee.

As of late Sunday afternoon, officials had not released the name of either victim, pending notification of their families, Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Matt Henderson said. Those names are expected to be made public Monday.

Henderson said LPSO has no suspects in the shooting that took place in the vicinity of Shaman Road and Peachland Mobile Home Park on U.S. Highway 80 west of Ruston. He asked anyone with information to call the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office at 251-5111.

Investigators said they do not know if the Peachland-Shaman Road incident is related to shootings that occurred on the Grambling State University campus about three hours later, but they did say the Shaman Road victims were from out of town and had come to Lincoln Parish for GSU’s homecoming on Saturday.

Sheriff Stephen Williams said the altercation apparently took place over a $5 parking fee at the location.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the vicinity of Shaman Road and Peachland Mobile Home Park around 10:14 p.m. Saturday.

Upon arrival, they found one person dead from a gunshot wound to the head and another victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. The second victim was eventually airlifted to LSU Health in Shreveport.

The investigation into the shooting remains under investigation as of this evening.

Shaman Road and Peachland Mobile Home Park are across the street from each other and are about 3 miles east of Grambling.
