Jonathan Gunasekaran placed second runner up out of 39 at the 2016 National You Be The Chemist Challenge in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The I.A. Lewis sixth grader received a $2,500 scholarship and a trophy for placing third in the competition. “I was really happy (to place third),” he said. “I was glad to be one of the top in the nation.” Jonathan is the second consecutive student from Lincoln Parish to represent the area at the competition that is an interactive academic contest that encourages fifth through eighth grade students to explore chemistry concepts and their real-world...
