Leader photo by LAURA BOND David Chrisman holds up one of his mounted birds. But the birds he recently loaned to be used in a new film will look very different.

One Ruston native’s handiwork has made its way into movies.

In 2009, David Chrisman scored a role as a taxidermy consultant in “The Mortician,” shot in New Orleans and now playing at the Berlin Film Festival. He kept in touch with a couple of the film’s producers via Facebook. Less than two years later, one of the producers contacted the Spearsville taxidermist and asked him to supply some of the scenery — in the form of mounted birds — for another film.
