Reneau shows leadership
Without prior planning, those cuts could be catastrophic, especially on top of the 3 percent cuts already levied on the state’s colleges and universities.
What is needed is forward thinking like that shown by Louisiana Tech University president Dan Reneau.
When asked how Louisiana Tech could survive a rumored $6 million slash to its budget, Reneau calmly replied, “We’ve met these types of hurdles before and survived. In the 1980s and 1990s we faced similar budget cuts. We’ll meet them again and survive.”
