Funeral Services for Faye Holbrook Hinton will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Grace United Methodist Church, Ruston with Dr. Wayne Evans and Rev. Hulen Warren officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Ruston under the direction of John Kramer & Son. Faye Holbrook Hinton, 94, of Alexandria, formerly of Ruston passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2010. Mrs. Hinton was a native of Smith County, Mississippi. She graduated from Polkville High School and attended the University of Southern Mississippi where she received her teaching certificate. In 1952 she and her husband, J.D. Holbrook moved to Ruston where she resided until 2008. In 1959 she married Jim Hinton and they worked side by side at Hinton’s Garden Center. Mrs. Hinton was an avid Gardner, Bridge player, a member of the Cosmos Club of Ruston, and the Workers for Christ at her church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, J.D. Holbrook; second husband, James V. “Jim” Hinton and her brother, Ray W. Guthrie. Faye Hinton is survived by her daughter, Charlene Holbrook Gates (Richard) of Alexandria; her step-son, Charlie E. Hinton (Linda) of Baton Rouge; six grandchildren, Dianna N. DeWitt of Lawrenceville, GA, Elizabeth N. Campbell of Atlanta, GA, Leigh N. Scarborough (Charles) of Marietta, GA, C. Chase Nugent of Alexandria, Kelli Lombardo (Joe) of Austin, TX, Britt Hinton of Baton Rouge and thirteen great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until time of service Tuesday at Grace United Methodist Church, Ruston. Pallbearers honored to serve: Charles Scarborough, Don Tippit, John Sachs as well as members of the Workers for Christ Sunday School Class. Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews. The family request memorials be made to: Grace United Methodist Church, 3401 North Trenton Street, Ruston, Louisiana 71270.
