College is for learning, not finding a job

Question: What is a good field of study for me to consider as I enter into college? I want to be able to get a good job when I get out.

Answer: By the late 1970s, petroleum engineering was “the” field to enter at my alma mater, Louisiana Tech. When the oil patch collapsed a few years later and Houston all but slid off into the Gulf of Mexico, a lot of trained petroleum engineers were finding other fields in which to work.
