While Senate Bill 303 may give hunters and gun enthusiasts more freedom to own a firearm, many area leaders are concerned the removal of certain language from the state’s Constitution concerning concealed weapons may be an area of concern down the road.
The bill, which would set tougher standards for restricting the use of firearms, was passed easily through both the House and Senate, and now awaits final approval from Louisiana voters in a November election.
The fourth annual SOCA (South of California Avenue) Sprint 5K is set for 9:30 a.m. April 28 at Mays Chapel Church, located at 601 W. Line Ave. Early registration for the event ends Saturday. Early registration costs $75 for a team of five members and $20 for individuals, which includes lunch and a T-shirt.
