Funeral services for Rev. Raymond Melvin Crofoot, age 90 of Ruston, will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at Douglas United Methodist Church in Choudrant with Rev. Rolly Walker officiating.  Burial will follow in Douglas Cemetery in Choudrant under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston. Rev. Crofoot was born April 1, 1920, in Medina, Ohio, to Melvin Crofoot and Minnie Berg Crofoot. He was the first of seven children.  He went to his heavenly home December 11, 2010.  He served his country during WWII.  On January 3, 1943, he married Altha Wiley in Wardville, Louisiana.  Each day, he and Mrs. Crofoot began their day with Bible reading and devotional.  They ended each day on their knees in prayer.  He held a degree in drafting as well as a degree from the Perkins School of Theology at SMU in Dallas which he earned in 1954. He was a retired pastor of the Louisiana Conference of the United Methodist Church.  He served a host of churches in the Louisiana Conference for 57 years.  Rev. Crofoot was a true servant of the Lord and a dear friend to many.  He was known affectionately as Brother Ray in the community and lovingly by his grandchildren as D-Daddy.  In his spare time, he enjoyed reading his Bible and he also loved to make trips to Wal-Mart.  He was a 32nd Degree Mason. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Altha Wiley Crofoot, his two daughters:  Connie Crofoot McKenzie and Brenda Crofoot Wright; one son-in-law John W. McKenzie, Sr.; seven grandchildren:  Kimberly and husband Phil, Lori and husband Greg, Will and wife Laurie, Ashley and husband John, Thomas, John and wife Heather, and Rosalyn and husband Jamie; 11 great grandchildren:  Caroline, Caleb, Sydney, Jeremiah, Clark, McKenzie, Mallory, Savannah, Abram, Clintt, and John-Mark and one great grandchild that will be born in July; one brother:  Larry Crofoot; two sisters:  Gertrude Carpenter and Audrey McGaugh as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Will Bridges, Thomas Wright, John McKenzie, Jr., Greg Fallon, Phil Wardell, John O’Leary and Jamie Hall.  Honorary pallbearer will be John McKenzie, Sr. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM Until 7:00 PM Monday, December 13, 2010, at Douglas United Methodist Church in Choudrant.  Planned memorials may be made to the Douglas United Methodist Church building fund.  To leave a memorial message for the family, please visit www.owensmemorialfuneralhome.com
