A life celebration for Pat Grafton will be Monday, December 10, 2010 at 3:00 PM at New Hope Baptist Church in Choudrant with Dwayne Monk officiating.  Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM  before the service.  Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston with Jesse Henderson officiating under the direction of Owens Memorial Funeral Home. Pat was born in Bernice, LA on June 6, 1923 to B.F. and Blanche Grafton and passed from this life on December 10, 2010 at the age of 87.  He was preceded in death by his daughter Patricia and brothers Troy, Vincent, Grady, Ben (B.F.), Louie and J.C. and nephew Tom Grafton.  Pat owned and operated Grafton’s T.V. and Radio Service for 40+ years. He retired in 1993 to help take care of his cherished grandson Patrick.  Pat never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with any one. He was a jack of all trades and could absolutely fix anything that was broken.   Pat loved his two dogs he had through the years, Doe and Ugly and “borrowed dogs” Brown Dog, Candy, Gomer and Joy.  He loved the lake, waterskiing in his earlier days and then fishing, working in the yard, and watching baseball and basketball, but most of all he loved visiting with his family and friends, sharing past memories. More than anything he loved spending the days with his
wife and “Sweetie” of 63 years, Lurline.  He was the best daddy ever to his “pride and joy” Rhonda whom he and Lurline had after almost 18 years of marriage.  He always had a positive attitude and in later years when he could not walk as well, he would always tell people when asked how he was, “I’m hopping but I’m happy.”  Pat was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Choudrant and became an ordained deacon while a member of Vienna First Baptist Church. Left to treasure his memory are his wife, Lurline of Ruston, daughter and son-in-law Rhonda and Randall Boyd of Choudrant, and his “namesake”, grandson Patrick Boyd of Ruston.  He is also survived by 3 sister-in-laws, Alverne Byrom of Cumming, GA, Mary Virginia George of Calhoun and Betty Grafton of Bossier. Special Brother-in-law Elvin Byrom of FL.  Nephews: Eddie (Hilda), Roger (Karen), Alan (Keri), Van (Jan), Benji (Susan),  Troy Wade (Mary) Grafton,  and Keith (Nel)  and Charles George.  Nieces:  Susan (Gary) Green, Donna (Robby) Griffin, Ann (John) Graves, Trellis Jones,  Diane (Al) Simon, Paula (John) Duros and special niece Lois Grafton. Special neighbors and friends for more than 45 years:  Ralph and Betty Hursh and Max and Frenchie Albritton. Pallbearers will be Eddie Grafton, Van Grafton, Benji Grafton, Troy Wade Grafton, Keith George, Billy Thompson and Ralph Hursh. Because of Pat’s love of dogs, the family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Patriot PAWS 254 Ranch Trail Rockwall, Texas 75032. The family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. Benson Grigsby and the nurses and staff of the 3rd floor, 1st floor west, and ICU of Northern Louisiana Medical Center for their excellent care.  To leave a memorial message for the family, please visit www.owensmemorialfuneralhome.com
