FARMERVILLE —Two men have been arrested and an investigation continues after more than $100,000 worth of stainless steel items was stolen from the Foster Farms poultry plant.


Union Parish Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Dusty Gates said the two men were caught loading a trailer at Foster Farm’s scrap yard behind the main plant.


UPSO Detective Sgt. Bobby Robinson said John Allen Whitaker, 38, of West Monroe, and Joseph Burton, 37, of Farmerville, ran into a wooded area as deputies arrived at the scene shortly after 9:15 a.m. on Dec. 2.
