The cuts come at a time when most people are more focused on gift-giving than job-hunting.

Whenever job loss occurs, it can be a traumatic experience. When that job loss comes a little more than two weeks before Christmas, the elements for depression can be set in motion.

Tony Young, the interim associate dean for Graduate Studies and Research in the College of Education at Louisiana Tech University, said depression depends on many things, including exterior circumstances and an individual’s personality.
