Firefighters from the Ruston Fire Department underwent Hazardous Material Training Wednesday at Coastal Chemical Company under the auspices of officials from the LSU Fire and Emergency Training Institute. ifth District Congressman Vance McAllister cancelled his scheduled Monday night appearance here before the North Central Louisiana Tea Party.
The cancellation came only hours before McAllister, R-Swartz, was to have made his first public speech since the April 7 release of a surveillance camera videotape showing the freshman congressman kissing a married female staff member.
A local woman is in jail after she allegedly killed her live-in boyfriend on Tuesday night.
The Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office reportedly received a call around 7 a.m. Wednesday reporting the victim, Fredrick P. Abney, age 49, was deceased at his residence in PeachLand Trailer Park, located 7003 U.S. Highway 80 Lot No. 248.
According to the LPSO, they arrived at the scene and discovered suspicious injuries to the victim’s body.
