William and Nancy Hanks celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 17. Their family hosted an evening of food and fellowship at the Hanks’ home. The Hanks were married Oct. 15, 1960. They have two children, Mike Hanks and wife Cammie, and Jackie Billberry and husband Philip. They have four grandchildren, Lance Billberry, Brittney Billberry, Hunter Hanks and Abigail Hanks.

A proposed ordinance to provide Choudrant Mayor Bill Sanderson with a salary will be a matter of discussion at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Choudrant Town Hall. Village clerk Celeste Butler said a yearly salary of $15,000 will be up for review.
The Ruston Police Department is investigating the death of a Ruston woman.
Deputy Chief Clint Williams said officers responded to a call Wednesday afternoon on Courtney Avenue regarding a deceased person.
“Upon the officer’s arrival, they located a deceased black female, later identified as Danielle Wilson, 20, inside the residence,” Williams said. “Investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division immediately responded and began a follow-up investigation.
“Investigators conducted interviews throughout the night as well as collected evidence from the residence.”
