Water lessons can trickle down to parents
Fifth-graders across the parish will skip class to spend a day in the park on Thursday and Friday. But they’re not getting a day off. Instead, they’ll learn about water conservation during the first ever Lincoln Parish Water Fest.
Within the city of Ruston limits, this age group already gets a visit from city of Ruston officials each year for a presentation on where water comes from and how it’s used. What they’ll learn at Water Fest is similar information — just from a different perspective.
Lindsay Gouedy, Louisiana Sparta Commission educator, said students will have a chance to participate in interactive activities to hone in on the main concept — to preserve the Sparta Aquifer.
