Making the streets of Simsboro safer at night
Simsboro aldermen are considering before the next month an ordinance introduced by newly re-elected Mayor Willie Hendricks.
“During the re-election campaign process, I knocked on every door in Simsboro,” Hendricks said. “In talking with citizens, there was a concern of having coverage in Simsboro 24/7. Sheriff Mike Stone has been very good about having (deputies) in Simsboro at night, but if something occurs in another municipality they have to leave.”
Using the Lawrason Act, Hendricks introduced an ordinance at Monday’s meeting suggesting that the town amend the budget to include a part-time deputy police chief who will work at night.
