Want for more quells happiness
I stuffed a fifth box today with my belongings in preparation for giving them away. It’s not that I’ve suddenly become altruistic, unless benevolence can also be defined as kindness to ones’ self. You see, I’m on a quest for what I’m sure is the most sought after thing in the world: lasting happiness.
So if I’m not donating things for magnanimity’s sake then why would I give heaps of my things away?
Before I answer that let’s revisit the reason why America is in a deep recession. Americans’ tendency for conspicuous consumption in which they strive to “keep up with the Joneses” led to the sub-prime mortgage debacle. Statistics have shown that American households have an average of at least $8,000 of debt, and around 45 percent spend more than they make.
