School bells ring in new year

First-grade students in Glen View Elementary teacher Stephanie Moran’s class start off the 2010-11 school year by doing an art project.

The Lincoln Parish School System’s 2010-11 school year started Friday, and at least two of its schools reported larger than average attendance numbers.

Freshmen only attended classes at Ruston High School on Friday.

Principal Mike Milstead welcomed 329 students. On an average school year, which this one is not, the school only has about 280-290 freshmen, Milstead said.
