Pre-k opening could increase congestion
Ruston Police Chief Steve Rogers has a message for anyone who has a habit of driving on East Mississippi and Georgia Avenues, especially in the mornings and afternoons — expect delays from now on.
The new Lincoln Parish Early Childhood Center, located at 801 E. Mississippi Ave., is scheduled to open next week in an area that is unaccustomed to having heavy amounts of traffic. Because of that, Rogers and his police officers expect mass confusion, he said.
“We would like to advise the general public to avoid that area. Don’t travel east on East Mississippi if you don’t have to. It’s a new school. There will be very young children, about 200 of them, all around the age of 4. This will be a learning process for parents and children as far as how traffic is to be directed,” Rogers said.
