Six-year-old donates hair to charity

Boardwalk Salon stylist Jessica Larison prepares to give 6-year-old Briley Kent her first haircut. The Choudrant Elementary student is donating her hair to Locks of Love in honor of her grandmother Ruth Kent (left), a cancer survivor.

Choudrant Elementary student Briley Kent will start the new school year with a haircut that hits her shoulders.

On Tuesday, the 6-year-old received her first real haircut when a stylist at the Boardwalk Salon chopped more than 10 inches off of Briley’s smooth locks.

For this little first-grader, however, the haircut was more than a fashion statement — it was a statement of love.
