Senate says Sparta not critical
The bill, which removes the "critical" designation for aquifers and replaces it with "an area of ground water concern" label, now goes to Gov. Kathleen Blanco's desk for signature after passing the Senate by a 30-4 vote.
"I'm not surprised it passed," Mays said. "The question now is what do we do next. I thought it would be more than four votes against it. I thought there would be a little more common sense in the Senate than that."
