New Orleans lady to sashay through Ruston
Southern Pacific Steam Locomotive No. 745, a turn-of-the-century steam engine built near New Orleans, chugged her way through Ruston Monday afternoon, belching steam and blowing her whistle much to the delight of hundreds of fans.
Judge R. Wayne Smith was part of the crowd that showed up first at 7:30 a.m., then checked back in throughout the morning to find out when the lady would actually show up.
"I actually remember one of these passing through here," Smith said. "This is history."
