Defense dominates day two for Tech
Tommy Spangler’s defense stood out Tuesday as Louisiana Tech hit the practice fields for its second practice of fall camp.
Solomon Randle highlighted the evening with a fumble recovery for a touchdown and an interception just two plays later as a veteran defensive squad gave Tech’s offense fits throughout practice. Tank Calais had an interception returned for a touchdown while C.J. Broades and Olajuwon Paige also recorded interceptions.
“I thought practice was good today,” head coach Sonny Dykes said. “We had some cooler weather, especially as the sun went down. We had guys really working hard and competing hard. I like what we’re seeing from the defense — they had a really great day today. Guys were flying around, making plays. I think we’ve really improved ourselves at the cornerback position — we have a lot of guys that can play at that position and a lot of competition and I think it is making everybody better. Those guys are playing with a lot of confidence, they know what they are doing, they are playing really fast and I couldn’t be more pleased with what we’re doing defensively.”
