GSU loses another former football great
For the third time this month, Grambling State University is mourning the loss of a former football standout.
Rufus Harris, who played center for Grambling before graduating in 1962 and moving on to a long career in the Canadian Football League, died Sunday in Birmingham, Ala.
Former GSU and NFL standout James Hunter died Aug. 2 while another former Tiger and NFL star, Gary “Big Hands” Johnson, died Aug. 4.
Harris was educated in the Birmingham City Schools and graduated from Ullman High School in 1958.
