Funeral services for Mildred Mathews Rushing Ponder will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Briarwood Baptist Church in Readhimer, LA.

Officiating will be Bro. Nathen Keen and Bro.Norris Curry. Interment will follow in Strange Cemetery in Readhimer.

Mrs. Ponder was born on June 4, 1919 and passed away on July 17, 2010. She was 91. Survivors include, two daughters, Nita Rushing Michaud and husband Stephen of Huntsville, AL, Tommy Jean Rushing Gatlin of Jonesboro, LA, six grandchildren, Lisa McLean Moffett, Suzanne McLean Burkhalter and husband David, Melinda McLean Long and husband Tim, Charles Logan McLean and wife Melissa, Sonya Gatlin Freeman and husband Scott, Steve Gatlin and wife Emily, fifteen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Mary Pullin of Hodge, LA, Jeweleen Keen of Shreveport, LA, Mrs. Ponder was preceded in death by her husbands, Tommy Rushing “1939-1968” and Wilbur Ponder “1978-1995”, four sisters and three brothers. Mrs. Ponder is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will include, Steve Gatlin, Charles Logan McLean, Bobby Walter Coffey, Mark Ponder, Perry Hawkins, Edward Ponder. Honorary pallbearers will include, Scott Freeman, David Burkhalter, Tim Long and Larry Ponder.
