More than 250 youth and 75 adults from around the state gathered in Ruston last week to take part in the annual Weekend of the CROSS sponsored by Trinity United Methodist Church.

Weekend of the CROSS, which stands for Christians Reaching Out in the Savior’s Service, offers teens from various areas a chance to focus on their faith by serving the community. The students worked during the day, worshiped at night and slept at Louisiana Tech University.

Participants traveled from as far as Morgan City to take part in the event, which featured service projects in Ruston, Grambling, Simsboro, Athens, Downsville, Dubach and Choudrant. Trinity Youth Pastor the Rev. Brian Mercer said most of the projects involved painting and building wheelchair ramps, but there were other projects in homes as well.
