Ruston City Council members on Monday will vote on a proposed ordinance that could impact where some businesses might be constructed.

The ordinance is an update to the transition zoning provisions, which allow a lower intensity buffer between residential and commercial or industrial zones.

The transition zoning basically permits specified businesses — such as offices for doctors, attorneys and architects — in certain instances to be located in areas zoned for residential use.
