Protect kids when riding in vehicles
In late April, a 7-year-old girl died in a hit-and-run wreck on Interstate 20 near the Ouachita-Lincoln parish line. She was restrained with an adult seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.
Then on May 14, a 5-year-old girl was seriously injured when she and her mother, who were riding a scooter not rated for use on public roads on La. 146, were hit by a truck.
These incidents prove that not everyone knows or practices the laws that guide child safety in vehicles.
