Treasurer: Prioritize state budget
In government, how legislators invest money shows what they believe in, Kennedy said. He noted thousands are being set aside in the budget to support a neighborhood association, furniture purchases and renovations to a city hall while higher education, health care and road projects are coming up short.
“Folks, we’ve got to get control of this budget,” Kennedy said. “I’m not saying these are bad expenditures, but just not priority expenditures. (Lawmakers) could restore every single penny to higher ed tomorrow if it’s their priority.”
