Grambling totaled 71.5 points in gaining the award and captured titles in football and indoor and outdoor track and field. A second-place finish resulted in cross country and the tennis team placed No. 3.

In the overall Commissioner’s Cup for the top all-around program in the conference, Grambling finished No. 2 with 153.5 points, less than seven points shy of Jackson State University (160).

The latter school had 96 points in the women’s division and 64 points in the men’s department.
