June is special in these parts
Festival organizers say the city’s Juneteenth Heritage Festival is Louisiana’s oldest, beating out New Orleans, Shreveport and Baton Rouge. Juneteenth is traditionally known as the United States’ oldest celebration of the end of slavery.
One early highlight of Juneteenth is the “Conversations Under the Tent” event that follows the prayer meeting during opening ceremonies.
“This is fabulous,” Greater Grambling Chamber of Commerce President Barbara McIntyre said. “It’s a great opportunity to hear about the history of Grambling.”
