Jury picked in obscenity case
A potential jury pool of 300 was narrowed to 42 prior to the Monday lunch break and by 3:20 p.m. the 42 had been cut to six with one alternate.
Defendant Dan Sasha Birman appeared calm and confident wearing a black suit and briefly smiled at times during the proceedings.
“I am very happy with the jury,” 3rd Assistant Judicial District Attorney Laurie Whitten said, after the jury had been seated.
Defense attorneys had earlier stated in writing that they would issue no statements to the press during the trial.
