Free cancer screening is public service
During the month of March, the health care industry spotlights colon cancer to increase awareness of the screening and everyday steps that can help prevent the disease.
In our area, the Northeast Louisiana Cancer Institute, 411 Calypso St. in Monroe, will give away free colorectal cancer screening kits from 9-11 a.m. Saturday. Kits will be distributed to men and women age 50 or older who have not been screened for colorectal cancer in the past five years.
The simple and sanitary tests can be picked up Saturday and done in the privacy of your home.
