Unless you were living under a rock, or atop an Alpaca trying to reach the summit of Machu Picchu, you had to have witnessed the extraordinary achievements of the Irish wunderkind Michael Phelps, whose Herculean haul of eight gold medals at the Olympic games placed him higher than Zeus on Olympus in the collective consciousness of the American cultural psyche. And after the celebrations ended, Phelps made the sophomoric mistake of believing his Superman powers would shield him from the kyrptonite ahead, specifically the American paparazzi.
