Pump price pains persist
Here in Ruston, one gas station owner is trying to inform the public that higher prices don’t mean a business is trying to take advantage of a bad situation.
Manuel Chinchilla, who owns the Super Tobacco House on the South Service Road, had to raise the price of a gallon of regular gasoline at his business to $3.99 over the weekend.
“Even at $3.99 a gallon, I still had a loss of over $3,000,” he said.
The outcry from customers led Chinchilla to decide to simply shut down his gas pumps once they run out, until the cost comes back down.
