WAC finalizing big TV deal
Chief executive officers on the WAC’s Board of Directors have nixed proposals from ESPN during the past two years. In 2007, the league turned down a deal that would have been worth approximately $3 million per season.
While the conference has been guaranteed a minimum of eight televised games through previous contracts, they have actually averaged 10 during the past several years.
Much of the increased exposure has resulted from the success that such teams as Boise State and Hawaii have had, particularly in regards to top 25 national ranks enjoyed by both both of those programs.
